The catwalks of SS15 were alive with floaty fabrics, functional springtime shapes and Barbie style puffball dresses. Something for everyone, spring and summer are definitely the fun seasons for fashion. It’s the time to put the trusty scarf into storage and express your personality.

Moschino had to be the stand-out show this year with the beehive blonde bouffets and colourful miniskirts inspired by our favourite childhood toy, Barbie. Whilst all other catwalks had functional (though still beautiful) styles including kitten heels, versatile denim and crop tops perfect for those summer festivals you have lined up.

A great outfit is all about the finishing touches and having fun with your style. Accessories are nearly everyone’s guilty pleasure and this year is no exception with beautiful Addicted Diamonds to quirky Boho beads. Find the perfect style to complement your personality:

Glitter Ball

Prada’s show was teaming with glittering crystals accompanying the intricate earthy prints creating a sharp and alluring contrast. You can never go wrong with drop pendant style earrings and small uncomplicated necklaces with a touch of sparkle. This will contrast your Aztec print dresses perfectly. Just remember to team yours with a slick updo (to show off the earrings) and keep the neckline high so those jewels have a backdrop to really stand out.

Under the sea

If you’ve already booked your summer hols, then why not start planning your summer outfits? Most summers remain the same in terms of garments. There’s the florals, denim hot pants, Aztec flowing fabrics and the odd eye-popping block colours in their as well. However, you can update your look with the accessories. The catwalk of Valentino was scattered with delicate gold rings, bangles and clutch bags with a watery theme. Shells, stars and coral pieces are minimal but make a huge impact.

Playful Pearls

From shells and stars to another of the ocean’s beauties; pearls. You may think pearls are reserved for the likes of your grandmother or as a tired yet necessary family heirloom, however Lanvin had other ideas. As French Vogue rightly states, Lanvin took this staple old-fashioned style and inject a fresh take including suspending the pearl like an abacus.

Feel the Folk

With Chanel’s “Make Fashion Not War” and the FUN of Moschino, the catwalks have a liberated feeling about them. This stretched to a number of designers in terms of hippy chic, or the ‘bohemian dream’. With Native American style prints in contrasting colours, when it comes to the accessories, think feathers! Dreamcatcher style jewellery, beads and feathers whether that’s in the form of necklaces, earrings or tied as braids in your hair.

Go Big and Bold!

The hat game is going to be strong this year. Last year witnessed the rise of the visor, and we have to be frank, we’re glad those days are long gone. The SS15 catwalks proved much more substantial when it came to headwear. Jean Paul Gaultier hosted his last ever ready-to-wear collection to an adoring crowd with a tribute to the eighties, sans the larger than life shoulder pads and dodgy perms. The spectacular hats were certainly the show-stopper.

Punk Power

We saw the pierced eyebrows of Rodarte created a storm but it wasn’t just this fashion powerhouse embracing punk for the summer. Giorgio Armani completed the beautiful silk animal print dresses with pendant safety pin earring…and STILL managed to keep it elegant. An unusual trend for the summer, this is all about taking the grittiness of punk and giving it a polish. Almost anti-punk…which is so punk in itself, wouldn’t you agree.

Bangle Bonanza

The catwalk of Chanel saw delightful colourful leather and silver bangles representing a mix between quirky bohemian and high fashion style. With that signature leather braiding, Karl Lagerfeld show was themed “Make Fashion, Not War” embraced on-trend feminist views with fun yet versatile fashion you can adapt to your existing style. Top marks Chanel!

Go Large

Bold block colours always make an appearance, however, how do you accessorise such an outlandish hue or print? Stella McCartney’s catwalk had an abundance of striking chains and bangles at approximately 150% bigger than your standard necklace. Keeping with our feminist theme, McCartney wanted to symbolise the quiet female confidence. We love it.

Classy chokers

We had chokers down for a fair-weather fashion statement but it looks they’re hanging around for 2015. Givenchy introduced a baroque twist to theirs to suit the earthy browns and leather garments including crystals mounted onto a soft chocolate leather band. Possibly quite heavy, but undeniably stylish.

Mellow Yellow

Yellow is a tricky colour, but surprisingly versatile when you know your shade. From mustard to daffodil, this summery shade will breathe a breath of fresh air into the your wardrobe after a long and brutal winter. We can’t wait to done the accessories. Whilst yellow garments suit the likes of chunky plastic style black jewellery, when accessorising with yellow, sunshine courts and accompanying clutches instantly add a freshness to your style.
