ToonsTunes Launches at TechCrunch50
ToonsTunes.com, a “virtual playground where you can fully immerse yourself in the world of music,” has just launched at TechCrunch50. This animated music studio gives children the ability to create their own music – selecting genre, tempo, and instrumental tracks (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, and others). Once selected, your children can add loops to include in the song for each instrument, and they can customize each verse of the song, as well as the chorus.
After selecting the music on the song, they can even record their own voices singing their song’s lyrics! Once the song is complete, children are able to perform virtual “shows” with animated avatars, selecting from a number of venues, and instructing their avatars to perform a number of actions, like a virtual world.
“Some of the best names in performing arts have collaborated with ToonsTunes to make the virtual world we have today,” announced Paul F. Bohan, President of ToonsTunes.
From the conference program: “ToonsTunes is the only virtual world for kids that combines social community with the ability to create and share music and enjoy music made by others. Playing games and making music earn impressive rewards for your avatar, while utilizing music-sharing features gives players a chance to expand their audience through email and social networks.”
In a world where music education is being eliminated more and more from student curriculums, and where access to the tools that allow children to create music are either cost-prohibitive or unavailable for many families, this site seems to offer children the creative access to music composition tools while encouraging them to publish, perform, and take pride in their creations.
